January 2007 - CAMCO's high-quality, high power Tecton Series amplifiers, streamlined to reduce unwanted features and cost, are
making significant inroads to the European entertainment market. The moderate pricing of Tecton models, combined with a superior
audio spec offering low distortion and wide dynamic range, is finding favour with installers for bars, restaurants and small
nightclubs.
THE ITALIAN JOB
Located just outside the town of Brescia, near Lake Garda, the Casa Desica has a nightclub, restaurants, social function hall and
spa, with extensive outside space for dining and dancing. It is promoted as an ideal location for private functions, parties and
weddings.
The music programme is varied, from R&B and latin, to house and pop; Casa Desica hosts regular appearances by stars of music and
media, as well as live bands. A foreground and background PA system is installed and zoned through 6 different areas of the
venue. CAMCO's Vortex 6 amplifiers are used for the main dancefloor application where they are driving Nexo's PS15 cabinets.
Tecton 24.4 models working everywhere else. Besides the nightclub, there are two other foreground music zones, where the Tectons
are powering Nexo PS10s. In quieter areas, including the communal areas and outdoor terraces, white Nexo PS8s have been teamed
with Tecton 24.4s.
LONDON STYLE
The exclusive Kitts nightclub in Sloane Square in Chelsea is an all-new 160 capacity nightclub. Co-owner Duncan Stirling
recruited his father, Andrew Stirling, a well-known figure in British pro-audio circles to design the installation.
Stirling chose CAMCO's Tecton 24.4 and 32.4 amplifiers to power a Nexo PS8 system, which he describes as "a small, directional
speaker system which would squirt a lot of energy into a small space." Optimised by the dedicated NEXO PS-8TD analogue processor,
the sound is distributed by an Allen & Heath zoning mixer, while Stirling have introduced "a bit of black magic" in the form of
the Aphex 204 Aural Exciter and Optical Big Bottom to enhance the detail and clarity of the sound.
Overall his goal was to deliver a greater dynamic range of music to the generation of MPEG users who don't know any different,
and Tecton's superior specification has played a vital part in achieving that objective.
