October 2007 - CAMCO Vortex amplifiers survived a critical test of endurance, working happily despite the incredible heat of the
Dubai summer, to power a JBL PA system for American rock starlet Pink.
Playing her only show in the region, Pink was performing in front of a 10,000-strong crowd at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre,
with sound, lights and staging supplied by Protec. Thirty-two Camco Vortex 6 amplifiers powered the 24 JBL VT4889 line array
speakers and sixteen Nexo CD18 subwoofers in the FOH system.
The inventory of CAMCO Vortex amplifiers was acquired in 2006 from the established supplier V.V. & Sons. Protec's Rob Turner had
nothing but glowing praise for the non-glowing amplifiers. "The heat and humidity at this time of year is extremely harsh, so
this is a massive test for the amplifiers," he explained.
The amplifier racks were sheltered from the sun's rays beneath the stage, which also housed six XTA DP448 signal processors,
together with two Nexo NX241 and six Alpha TD controllers. "We use the same racks for our mainstay and regular corporate events
and weddings as they can be placed discreetly out of sight or flush against walls. Not only are the Vortex 6 amplifiers highly
efficient, creating little heat in the process, but they are lightweight and powerful."
