April 2005 - A prestigious SINUS Systems Integration Award 2005 has been awarded to the Walters-Storyk Design Group Europe for
the work it has done at the T-Mobile Campus Forum in Bonn, Germany. The venue, which features CAMCO Vortex at the centre of its
pioneering networked audio installation, has been given the Award for its use of new technology and system integration in a
'business' setting.
The T-Mobile Campus Forum is an event hall with the impressive dimensions of 47m (length) x 30m (width) x 11m (height). The
executing consortium Arbeitsgemeinschaft Medientechnik of enterprises Kuchem Konferenztechnik (http://www.kuchem.com/) and PA
Elektronik GmbH Muenchen mandated WSDG for a specification of a room acoustical optimization as well as for the planning of an
electroacoustical 5.1 Surround Sound loudspeaker system for moviestyle sound reinforcement - all of which had to be
invisible.
The installation used a LCR NEXO GEO S design, with all speakers hidden behind a sound-transparent fabric which covers the front
wall. Connectivity and processing has been built around a Biamp Audia network / DSP mainframe. Control data and audio data are
transmitted over CobraNet from the control room (at the rear of the hall) to the amp rack which is filled with CAMCO Vortex
amplifiers - there is just one CAT 5 Ethernet connection between the two locations. The Biamp DSP can be accessed over the
internet.
