July 2005 - To mark the centenary of Jules Verne's death, one of France's most innovative theatre companies, Royal de Luxe, has
staged an extraordinary 3-day spectacle. Combining elements of street theatre, circus and carnival, the event featuring a robot
elephant and a giant doll. French PA company Melpomen provided a mobile NEXO GEO system, powered by CAMCO Vortex.
The Sultan and his Time-Travelling Elephant' is unforgettable street entertainment which attracted more than 100,000
spectators.
Thierry Tranchant, technical supervisor from Melpomen, explains that ''the gear we were asked to provide had to handle the
diversity of events taking place during the performance. We were dealing with four locations, (the elephant and the giant doll
moving throughout the city, an open air cinema and a large stage for the final concert).''
Melpomen paired Vortex 4 amplifiers with the GEO S cabinets for the giant doll and with PS15s for the open-air cinema. For the
final concert, and for the spectacular elephant, the system used NEXO's GEO T modules, amplified by Vortex 6.
